Founded by Elaine Kahn, Poetry Field School offers affordable, accessible, nonhierarchical writing workshops. It is a space for writers of all levels to invigorate their practice through shared work and collective inquiry. Poetry Field School has been home to hundreds of writing students of all genres, many of whom have gone on to produce books, publish literary magazines and host writing series of their own. PFS has been featured on NPR, E-Flux Education, the Poetry Foundation and elsewhere.

In addition to her work with PFS, Elaine has taught at Pomona College, UCLA, Saint Mary’s College of California, University of Iowa and elsewhere. She is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ workshop and author of the Women in Public (City Lights, 2015) and Romance or The End (Soft Skull, 2020).
